OUR STORY

The Yema’s history is a fascinating one. It is believed that the Yema was invented during the Spanish era, where egg whites were used to be mixed with cement when constructing buildings. Some ingenious Filipinos saved the egg yolks that were to be discarded. They mixed the egg yolks with milk, sugar, and finely ground peanuts and cooked them until thick. The product is the dessert we now call the yema. The yellowish color of our cake topping is an indication of it's authenticity as YEMA CAKE. ^_^

About Us: M&M

I was a Reports Assistant III in Convergys Philippines and Nino was a college instructor in St. Anne College of the Pacific.

It was in April 18, 2011 when we started selling yema cake in Sariaya, Quezon. First, it was just an idea. We started with a cash capital of PHP1500 for the materials only. We were just blessed as my family has an existing bakery so I asked my mom if we can temporarily use their oven. ^_^

Nino and I were not bakers. It was a challenge baking our very first cake. We made a few, displayed them in one of our outlets in Sariaya and they're SOLD OUT!

That was our hint, we’ll be able to make a living out of this cake. We were able to make our own version of yema cake. As days and months go by, we were able to expand and offer yema cake in our neighboring towns.

We will still continue to expand and serve our customers with our cake topped with authentic yema.
